Winsford Library will be hosting National Bookstart Week and on Thursday 7th June 10.30am - 12pm a walk starting from the library will take people round the newly refurbished Town Park to enjoy rhymes, stories and a treasure hunt. National Bookstart Week is an annual celebration of BookTrust’s reading programme, Bookstart.
Bookstart gives every child in England and Wales a free reading pack in the first year of their life and again when they are 3-4 years old. BookTrust works to remind families of the importance of reading for pleasure – even if it’s just for ten minutes a day.
The theme of this year’s National Bookstart Week (4-10 June) is ‘Bookstart Bird Boogie’. Children who attend any of the events will receive a free copy of the picture book A Busy Day for Birds by Lucy Cousins. Children’s reading charity BookTrust, supported by Walker Children’s Books, has more than 450,000 copies to give away.
This is a great opportunity to get your little boy or girl interested in reading and It will be fantastic to see people enjoying the new Town Park finally.
