I have been clear from the outset that I would work to deliver a pragmatic Brexit which protects our prosperity. That is why I have supported the Prime Minister’s deal. It is also why I’ve supported backbench efforts to build a consensus around the idea for a Common Market 2.0.

I have this morning received the following letter from the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and Tenant Farmers Association (TFA) echoing the concerns of the United Kingdom’s farming unions at the disastrous impact a disorderly Brexit would have on the UK's rural economy.
I said during the debate on this deal that I would be voting with the Prime Minister to deliver my commitment to constituents to try to implement Brexit. Despite my reservations I have backed the Prime Minister’s deal. While it is not perfect, it is good enough and the deal deserved to pass.
